Animals in Entertainment

Green Mountain Animal Defenders (GMAD) opposes the use of animals in entertainment, including circuses, zoos, and pseudo-sanctuaries, and in inhumane sports like animal fighting and racing. We also oppose the exotic animal trade, which supplies many of the animals used in these ways. There is clear evidence that animals used for entertainment purposes are exploited for profit and usually do not have their physical and social needs adequately met.

GMAD focuses efforts on ending the use of animals in entertainment by educating the public through outreach efforts, media relations, campaigns, and special events. We also maintain a grassroots network of animal protection advocates throughout Vermont to support animal protection legislation.

Specific areas of animal abuse in entertainment:

Elephant
Circuses & Animal Acts
Lion in a Cage
Zoos & Pseudo-Sanctuaries
Tiger
Exotic Pets
Dog
Inhumane Sports
